The other day a dear friend of mine wrote about her eyes and her inability to see without contacts. She also talked about how she longs to have a different pair of eyes.. No, she wasn’t referring to some major surgical procedure, but rather that she hopes to have the eyes of the Lord. Have you ever thought about that? Have you ever thought about how you would view things differently if you were to see things as God see them? I know my eyes would go through a complete 180. How about yours?
As I was listening to The Today Show as I was getting ready this morning, they talked about a young girl (Phoebe Prince) who committed suicide and they ruled that her death was directly related to the tormenting she received in school by her peers. There were, I believe, four girls and two boys that were facing charges; most of which took a plea deal. However, the mother of the young girl wasn’t so concerned about the justice that these teens would face, but rather she wanted them to feel some kind of remorse and regret for what they did and to learn from this experience.

And even though mine was never said to the person’s face, it still doesn’t make it right. I’ve said things that were completely stereotypical, beyond judgmental and should have never been said about any human being. And I doubt I’m the only one. We’ve all been there. I’m sure none of us have done any sort of the taunting that Phoebe received, but it still doesn’t make it any better. My eyes have judged people all too much. Continue reading
